#1860, "Tectan Fluorocarbon"

Back in the seventies one of the most popular spinning reels was a reel called “DAM Quick” This reel was designed and manufactured by a German company Deutsche Angelgerate Manufakture or DAM. Today that company is a subsidiary of Okuma. The German engineers at DAM just developed a new fluorocarbon line called Tectan, I do not believe it is on the market yet. I have been using the stuff for a few weeks, and found the line to be outstanding. I have been tossing jigs at Vail with their 12# line. The line is clear unlike some fluorocarbon line I have used which are milky. I was amassed how the line cast, Smooth and far. The line has much less memory than other fluorocarbons I have used. Generally I spray my floro with conditioner but for testing purposes I did not. Actually I never felt I needed to. To test the abrasion resistant qualities I caught 11 bass without retying (and that’s a feat at that narley lake, I usually lose a couple jigs an hour). After every fish I inspected the line, yes it did show some fraying but it was minor. I am making Tectan my fluorocarbon of choice. The best part is Tectan 12# will retail at $14.99 for 200 yards. That’s a lot cheaper than the $21 for 90 meters stuff I have been using.

BTW you might be familiar with Tectan monofilament sold at Cabela’s.

I know which one you're referring to and I can't believe they get that many $$$ for an average-at-best fluro.

Had a DAM reel or two way back when so I'd be interested in trying their fluro when it's available.
