#2008, "NEW Poseidan and Killer B Pics.."

Here are pics of the NEW Poseidan that Steve Kennedy and Fred Roumbanis used at Amistad last week. Also below it is the Killer B which is a Mission Fish type bait. Killer B was designed by Gabe Bolivar and Fred Roumbanis designed the Poseidan

Go to www.reactionstrike.com and click on CALIFORNIA CLASSICS

hey Mike,

Do you have any pics of the rigging for the Killer B bait? Curious how the weedlessness works.

I haven't seen the baits myself, but i'm willing to be the weedless rigging matches pretty closely to the mission fish. I'm interested in seeing the rigging they have in mind with the split ring in the back of the bait.

Hey Rob, Sorry no pics but I got a description for ya.

If you look at the bait, the top dorsal fin is actually two top
dorsal fins. There is a slit that penetrates all the way through the dorsal fins and well into the back of the bait. Second, the belly of the bait is a large slit that goes all the way up, about 1/4 of an inch or so away from the dorsal/back slit.

ok, so you thread the line through a hole in the nose of the bait which comes out into the belly slit. Then you tie on the appropriate size Owner hook (will be supplied with the bait to my understanding). The hook that works best is an Owner Plus T wide gap. The hook then slips into the belly slit and is stuck into the connecting portion of plastic that runs from nose to tail between the belly slit and dorsal/back slit.

The hook point is slightly exposed, but covered by the dorsal fin. No metal shows anywhere. Upon hookset, the hook pulls up and out exposing tons of gap.

This bait will (a) fish totally weedless, and (b) will have very high hookup percentages based on the testing Gabe Bolivar has done.

This bait will have finishes like the bass harassers, and they plan to imitate baby bass, bluegill, perch, tilapia, shad, golden shiner, trout, hitch and many more.

Price Point is going to be fairly cheap and affordable from my understanding.

Hope that helps, They got a grunt load of stuff coming out at Icast. 10 inch baits and the much slower fall baits (ROF5 and ROF0 wakebaits) that everyone has been asking for.

What I really want to see is the point where the line enters the nose of the bait. The Mission Fish is the type of bait that just gets big friggin bites, and I've gotten those bites, but the main problem is that there is about 1/8" of lead above the point where the line enters the nose of the bait.

When a big fish swallows the Mission Fish whole and you set the hook, the first thing that contacts the bass' lips is this lead. Because of that, a lot of your really big bites will hold on to it for 2 seconds then spit it. I have Mission Fish in my box right now where the head of the lure is completely shredded but I've never landed a fish on the bait. You can't get a hook in the fish if all you are doing is pinning a piece of lead against the inside of their lips!!!

To put it in perspective, one of my pros in the FLW national guard delta tournament last week went 3 for 15 on the Mission Fish during the tournament. The Mission Fish cost me a 15lb bed fish three years ago not to mention the 2 or 3 other double digit bites I've had on it that never got hooked.

If this bait has the right setup in the nose, I'll probably use it because frankly, it's the same thing as the Mission Fish. If it has lead or any kind of hard surface above the point where the line enters the nose, it's going to have the same problem as the Mission Fish though. I hope it's done right.

TM, The Bass Candy is about 30 days out. They are in production as we speak. I suggested some changes to them and they are making those changes. My main suggestion was a bigger tail to match the body. I have played with these baits for about 2 weeks now. The action is GOOD very nice S action and very similiar if not identical to my favorite the Triple Trout. To my knowledge they are going to have atleast 2 weights one is almost a wake bait and the other is a little shallower.
