#2217, "Newly redesigned Musky Snax lipless swimbaits!"

Hi folks,

I have redesigned my cedar lipless swimbaits I make to use a better joining method than the hinges I used before and I've also gone from wooden tails to a foam material. Both these changes dramatically increase the actions and enable the baits to be worked at much slower speeds than before. The one pictured is a catfish but I also offer trout, shad, bluegill, crappie and more. Love to hear some feedback from you. Thanks!

Love the catfish paint job. That's a missing forage species in swimbait land, and I think there's a lot of room there for good baits.

How long is the lure?

The one pictured is 8" long but I can make them pretty much whatever size my customer wants.

I once tried to convert an MS Slammer in to looking like a catfish. I felt like from the fish's perspective (looking up) the whiskers would be an important attribute of the lure - signifying 'catfish' to the fish.

So what I did was drill out a hole through the head and add whiskers. The material I used didn't move in a lifelike way, but I bet you could find something better that moved like catfish whiskers really moved. If you've ever watched small catfish feeding on insects or foam on the surface they tend to flare their whiskers out quite a bit.

I got to watch this at length on the Green River in Utah where tens of thousands of small channel cats would congregate in the eddies to feed. They move with a lazy head action and even the small ones have pretty good sized whiskers, kind of like puppy feet.

That's just some random food for thought :)

That's a great observation and I did give it some thought. I'm not certain what material would work best to not impede the lures swimming action and also be durable enough. I'll keep on looking into it though.

Nice lures, keep the pics coming. Do you do any 3 or 4 piece baits and what are your prices? Nice paint jobs too.

I have done multiple piece baits and they swim extremely well. As for pricing please visit my website and go to Baits page 2. I haven't added this newer version of the swimbaits to my website yet but will do so very soon.

The 8" Catfish pictured is $55 US if that helps for now.
