#2548, "Rago Delta Rat thoughts...."

I just casted my 4 inch Rago Delta Rat just to get some ideas of the action and fishability.

Overall I thought the bait worked very well. I got a 4 incher and it sits about 2/3rds submerged in the motionless state. When you work it you get a nice walk the dog action. Not quite a Sammy glide or as wide with the 4 incher but the bait does put off a good size wake and it does rock back and forth with ease. YOu can also get the bait to look like it's chugging ie jumping a little bit by working it more aggressively.

The ONLY gripe I have about the bait is the line tie eyelet on my personal bait has a gap in the eyelet big enough for the knot to slip out. I am going to try to close it with some pliers to see if it will close up some.

I will say that I like it enough to possibly get the cuter 3.5 inch version for numbers. I think my Spotted Bass will dig those wicked action baits with long tails :). I am a little concerned about the single treble for spots but it should be a non issue for the heads. I am anxious for spring to get here to see how the fish react to it (cold as hell here in Georgia).

Tacklewarehouse now has the Delta Rats in stock. Normally they list their new products on the side bar there but they must have missed the Delta Rats as a new product?

Mike

Do you think this bait will be as productive as the orginal Rago Rat? I realize its a different action and presentation, but sometimes that is a good thing.

Mag, It's hard to say since the Delta Rat is a topwater bait and the Rago Rat is a cranker. Two totally different applications and the success of either one doesn't gaurantee the success of the other.
