Here's some shots of the new re-leased Castaic Hardbait. It's a real wood hardbait, made out of mahogany. I don't know much else right now. Did hear that it tends to run on top. The bill is very wide which probably gives it a correspondingly wide wobble. Tackle Warehouse has them in stock they're just not up on the site yet. Price is going to be $129. Odds are they will be dusted in a few days so here's the heads up if you've been waiting a long time to get one of these.

The baits are up on the site now at Tackle warehouse. I was in there today checking them out and they look really good. Word is that castaic isn't making a ton of these baits so getting one down the road might be somewhat difficult.

They do look good. But after comparing the TW pics and these pics, I prefer the fin colors that are on all the baits except the trout. The other fins just look more natural? Maybe I'm just complaining cause I know I can't afford one :+

The fins do come off looking a little funny in those pics. It's probably a case of the plastic looking different colors depending on the lighting. I like the looks of the brown trout pattern, and I think that green shad would actually make a trout imitator if all you did was put some black spots on it.

I remember buying my castaic hardbait (the polyestrene one) in like 1998 or 99. It was the last one Dean at Angler's Outpost at Santa Margarita had, and $50 seemed insane. That bait put a 13.8 and a 15.4 in the boat for me last year. I'll sell it to you for 10 grand :9

It must be the lighting because I held every bait yesterday and the standard rainbow looked the best to me. I don't remember seeing that much yellow in them. The brown and red trouts looked pretty slick too.

The paint's allready cracking up on mine. The hard edges on the body between the joints has started to crackx( For $130 I figured it would last a little longer than 10 casts.
