What do you guys use or your reels for swimbaits? I have 20lb Maxima ultra green on the reel I use with 6" baits. I'm just wondering if I should go with a little heavyer for the bigger baits. Say 25lb? What about braid?
Thanks
Joe C

20 to 25 should be just fine,I'm not too crazy about the braid myself, the stuff seems to snappy for throwing the big baits.tried both prefer my trilene big game 20 lb.its the only trilene i like.

Joe: I am still new to this "swimbait" Bassin' and have yet to catch any on one. Having said that, I use 20# test Seaguar Carbon Pro 100% flurocarbon line on my swimbait rig. I also use a Crawford knot with it and have not had any broken line or knots when throwing them so far.

I use Izorline 25# XXX line and have never had a problem. If the baits you are using are surface lures then I would stay away from Flourocarbon. Flourocarbon is heavy and it sinks so it can screw up the action. But it is awesome for the subsurface baits

I would think that if you get lots of back lashes you would not want to use braid in my experences it is impossible to untangle?

Hey let that Bass go I wanna catch her some day

its not that hard to untrangle. what i do is make a long cast pull off 20 yards more line. then put a peice of tape.

Powerpro casts better then any mono I've ever used, never had a problem with any kind of backlash- not like the horror stories you hear about Fireline and crap like that- stuff is unreal
