Hello all,
I just moved down here from Eastern Washington and I'm going
crazy trying to find places to fish - ideally fly fish or bass
fishing. I'd prefer to stay in the Orange County area, but if
the best stuff is up in LA county I don't mind doing some
traveling for the sake of my soul. Please any advice would be
helpful.
Thanks.

Go to your nearest reservoirs and throw until you catch
something! See Google Earth for fishing areas nearest you.
If you want to fly fish get/rent a boat, a 9 or 10 weight, a
stripping basket, some fast sinking lines or shooting heads,
20# mono/flouro leader, a Rio Outbound Short Floater, and some
big flies in shad and rainbow trout patterns.

Hey dude
A fun way to explore is with the google map features I built in to the site. Go here:
http://www.calfishing.com/loc/bigmap.html
It will take a bit to load. Once it's loaded up though you can check some boxes for what kind of locations you are interested in, then scroll around to see what's out there!

Thanks for the help guys. The google map is a great way to go, but I wasn't sure if all reservoirs were stocked and if so with what kinds of fish. Does anybody fish those drainage canals out near where they join into the ocean?
