#18143, "Got one back"

Friday the 13th, DFG planted Los Vaqueros reservoir with rainbow trout for the first time in several years following the cessation of trout plants after the Center for Biological Diversity lawsuit in 2007.

Nico and I had talked a number of times with the people at the lake about the trout plants and they expressed frustration that it was taking so long to get approved. There was some rigmarole with having the federal government approve the stocking in addition to the DFG (who knows where these perceived requirements come from?)

In any case, glad to have the trout plants back even if it took years for the powers that be to realize that stopping trout plants at Los Vaqueros saved nothing, protected nothing, and if anything was worse for native species. Kudos bureaucracy!

It seemed to come as a surprise to the workers there too. Some hadn't known there was a plant. To bad the stripers weren't hitting maybe it caught them by surprise too...
