Fished after work today. Incoming tide. Nice conditions and crystal clear water, but I didn't have a bite for the first hour. Decided to take the long walk to a new spot. Water was a bit more off color. Found a nice little spot of boilers that looked promising. Couple casts in, I get a couple of taps and then hook a decent 8 inch class bsp. Couple of casts later I stick a little better 10 inch model. Next cast I'm on again and this time its a pancake flattie. It's on now. About 5 casts later I get thumped and I can instanly feel some serious girth. It takes off up the beach and out and rips about 25 feet of line and then hunkers down. I'm thinking its a shovel. Then head shakes and it wakes up a bit and turns down the beach and rips about 50 feet of line. It was taking what it wanted and I was giving it. Turned it's head and get a couple of winds on it. It comes up and boils and I kinda see a light color flash. Another drag burning run and I'm starting to get excited. Now it boils and I see a solid silver flash and a big square tail. It started to get close to the beach and I almost choked the grab. It slid up into shallow water and I went for a gill grab but it turned and swam between my legs. I figure it's gone at any second. Fortunately a larger wave comes to help it up the beach and this time I stick the grab.

It went 26+ and was nice and thick. Got it on a Big Hammer 3 inch in redrum on a yellow 1/4 ounce head. Pro-cure Krill gel on P-line 10 pound floro-clear.

Nice fish! Can i ask what the rod/reel setup is in your photo? My kid is at UCSB and I set him up with some gear we use up here in the bay area. Thanks.
