There's dudes that take boogie boards out to the rocks by mussel rock and fish striper in the summer time. Nico may have some pics of them. We call them the suicide brigade.

With the bouancy of a boogie board AND wet suit, the odds of survival go WAY UP... but where's the benefit? You most likely won't get sucked under, but the undertow and rip tides could push you into the rocks / out to sea. Your gear gets trashed or lost. Suicide brigade is right!

I LOVE striper fishing... But if you can catch 'em from shore, why risk your life?

Human nature is quite odd. I see a future Darwin Award... or a book... or a movie.
