I'm gettin some new swimbaits cant decide what to get though. Its going to be a slammer, suspending optimum, or a osprey.Any info on the action, duribility and price would be appriciated.

You are an SD guy aren't you? I would get the osprey. They have the most success around here. Or, if you are really in a spending mood, get all three. It can't hurt to try them all out.

If it's durability that your looking for, you can't beat the Slammer--the 9" goes for about $30. Each swim differently so you might wan't to find one thats right for you...

I thought twice about buying the optimum mainly because I don't like buying swimbaits that are all bent out of shape in the bag.. I heard you could boil them to get it back to its original shape--too much trouble for me.. They're less expensive than the Opreys which is always a plus.

You might be paying a little extra for the Ospreys but it's the quality that you are paying for. They also have a better selection in color. Bass World West in Santa Ana sells them prorigged, tuned, and ready to go.

You might also want to take a look at the Eagle. They're a little bulkier than the Ospreys but seem to be a little more durable.. They come nicely prorigged--stock. Out of the bag--you might have do a little tuning to get it to run straight.. I got one of the Joe Uribe Specials and I'm pretty satisfied with it.

Ospreys, Slammers, Eagles, Sidewinders, Stocker Trouts, Optimums, BassTrix, Charlies, Parmus, Generic Trouts, Mission Fish, Castaic Soft Trouts, AC Plugs......it never ends. I'd love to say that they all work and any of them would be a good choice, but that wouldn't be the truth. Big baits are just like any category of bass lures, each has it's own niche. It's not like any one of them would be the solution to every situation.
What I try to do when outfitting a guy who wants to target big bass is to find out where he is fishing and set up a game plan. Without a doubt, the Osprey is my number one choice for most conditions. It's a visual bait, so in clear water it's slow, shallow swim has great appeal to ambush minded bass. The Eagle, Optimum Suspend, Generic Swimbait, and Sidewinder are all like-minded soft plastic swimbaits, what I personally like about the Osprey over all of them is that there are several modifications I can make to the bait to expand it's potential. The color representation of the Osprey is also far beyond what any other company is pouring.
The Slammer is king of the wood baits, but that style of big bait is not as commonly used as the soft plastics here in So Cal. The wood bait excels when there is less water visibility(or at night), bass want a bait dead-sticked in one spot, or when warming water temperatures encourage bass to become more aggressive when feeding. I also think the Slammer can be a good antagonizing lure when bass have seen many slow, quiet swimbaits.
The first two big baits to own would be an Osprey and a Slammer, two different baits that will help cover most possible situations.

try boss bait and tackle. they have a big selection when they are not sold out. they have them in 4" to 12". the prices are probably the same as umaxco with shipping costs. i'm gonna try calling them tomorrow and see if they have any and when their next shipment is.

also at bass world west up in santa ana, i heard they had a good amount of them for good prices. i know someone in that area that can get some for me and he comes down here in sd all the time. i'm gonna see when the next time he is coming down here and i'll try to get him to stop by there first to get one or two for me and if you want i can get one or more for you too.

I live in Socal and have'nt seen them or heard about them being too close.I've ordered all mine directly from Mike by contacting him through his site.This seems to be the best method.

Sometimes you have to wait a little..but well worth it.

judging from what CJ said, I bet they would be great at murky wholford in the daytime and maybe the other murky lakes that don't stock trout but have THE BIG GIRLS like hodges, or el capitan and you can throw shad color or stick with trout.

does ms slammer make shad color pattern?

ooooohhhh!!! i just got an idea. if i get ahold of a slammer, i'm going to hodges. or maybe you can do the same damage if not more by waking a stocker or a osprey design swimbait.
