This coming Sunday for sunrise will be our next tourny. This is a sunrise event, so the it will be from 3am-9am. I going to do check-in a little early it is going to be dark obviously and it may take a little longer to get everyone in the water. I would like everyone in the water about 15 minutes before blast off so we can go over a few things and launch on time. Be sure to bring your HEADLIGHTS.

Check-in 1:45am-2:20am
Weigh-in 9:00am

I would like everyone in the water by 2:45 or earlier.

Not sleeping is not an option. I'm not some young pup that stays up partying all night (several of my employees stay up until 4 am or later...) I would either fall asleep in my kickboat, find a nice clean sandbar like the one in Rodman to sleep on, or fall asleep on the drive home. The last is my main worry...

P.S. There is a link at the bottom of the BNT front page. Select San Joaquin, then Borden Hwy Bridge, Middle River. Tides above the barrier will be a bit different but the high tide ought to be pretty close.

I like the tides as well. Going to have to strategize this a bit...

Those tides look awsome. I was hopin we could get above the barrier. On the 29th though i think we will be blastin off on an outgoin. Who has rowed over the barrier on a rippin outgoin tide?

We're blasting off on an incoming tide and I don't think the barrier will be a problem. You ought to be able to float right over...

Have fun out there. It will be a BLAST! Unfortunately I have family obligations in San Francisco on Saturday and Sunday and cannot squeeze in a night tourney. I'll see you guys in September.

Hey D.J.,
I have gone across the barrier when the tide is rippin out. There are two options...
1) Attempt to row across....which you can sometimes be sitting in the same spot rowing your heart out for well, ever not being able to get across. When the water is comin downhill off the barrier there is almost no rowing across...

opting towards #2...

2) Row up to the barrier so the tide is not pushing you, (there is usually a back eddy), and get up against the barrier. You can then get out and walk across the part of the barrier that has water on it and float your boat(or drag if real low) across. I have done this both directions, against a rippin incoming when trying to leave, or agaisnt an incoming trying to get there and it works fine. Of course you want to be careful and watch your footing, but it has worked great everytime. Also D.J, the 29th is teams so if both guys are goin the same direction then one can give the other a hand...
