#47559, "June 4, 2016 Middle River Report"

I went to Middle river this morning and got on the water at 4:50am so I could ride the tide. It was an incoming for about the first hour and a half then a fast outgoing. I was glad there was no wind to deal with also :)
With the hot weather we had this past week I was hoping for a good frog bite. I love catching frog fish.

I launched and headed straight to the barrier. I was rewarded right away with a 4.5 pounder on a buzzbait. As the sky got brighter I tried to get that frog bite going but it wasn't to be this morning.

Did I mention that there is a lot of hyacinth in MR. There is!

So with no frog bite happening I went to my other favorite bait, the Triple Trout, and started pitching it to the bank where I could find openings in the hyacinth and landed a nice 6 pounder.

I continued to fish my way upstream tossing the TT, and still trying to force a frog bite with a little spinnerbait and buzzbait action tossed in also. I managed to lose another nice fish on the blade when it jumped and spit the hook.

As the tide dropped I did catch a few small blade fish and I did get a couple of blow ups later in the day and caught 2 on kermit but they were also small.

I'm looking forward to next weekends tourney. It will be interesting.

What is the barrier and where is it? Is this like the large rock wall that's put in over near Tracy Oasis? Obviously I've never fished Middle River and nothing shows up on Google Maps

It is exactly like the rock barrier near Tracy O but without a ramp to trailer boats across. It's about a half mile, or less, upstream from the union point bridge on Hwy 4.
