The next ABA is this weekend, March 10th. This will be the last Clear Lake event for the season. Looks like rain this week during the week and rapid warming trend going in to Sunday.

Will the lake muddy up and rise? I have no clue! This year has been a total adventure as we clear Clear Lake winter time fishing. This tourney I want to fish more midlake and maybe down in to the Redbud arm to see if we can find some 7-9lbers. The last 2 events have been fun up there but we have not located any big fish. My thinking cap is on :)

The fun thing is it's March and you have to think even with a little weather the bite is going to stay super good. It will be interesting to see if the FPT event the day before puts a damper on the bite or what. .

Blows my mind how many ppl fish these FPT events. You're paying the same gas, same stupid $10 inspection fee, and probably the same $20 bridge toll to get to the lake. For another $70 a guy you could get in the ABA with all options.

Compare the payout

43 boats in FPT = first place and second place pay around $1,100

40 boats in the ABA = first and second around $3,000 and 3rd $1,200

Fish for 3rd place in the ABA for an extra $70 and win more than in the FPT.

All the money in tournament fishing is in the top 3 spots. With what it costs just to get on the water, you may as well make the bigger bet and win 3 times the money when you do have that good day. FPT and these rookie circuits just make no sense to me from a gambling on fishing standpoint.

I think 5 swimbait rods should do it this weekend.
