It helps to have some fishing skill but you really need to be a people-oriented person who is willing to help others and be an ambassadeur of goodwill. Tackle manufacturers are inundated with requests from guys wanting to be on prostaff (i.e. wanting free tackle) What can you offer the company? What's in it for them? Fish a lot, get visibilty and most of all, it's who you know--like in business, which it is.
