I have a partner who fishes that section quite a bit. He swears by live bluegill caught out of the river for some seriously large flatheads. Unlike channels and blues, flatheads really prefer live bait and don't be afraid to fish a 5" to 7" gill out there, some of those flatheads could swallow a small dog.
