On May 12th, AB 2280 went before the Assembly Appropriations Committee, The committee heard testimony by Assembyman Dave Cogdill, SEIU/CSEA, who represents state hatchery workers, Mono County angling interests and other interested parties in support of the bill.

Also, testimony was heard by The Federation of Fly Fishers, who are opposed to the bill.

Some Assemblymembers in the committee also spoke in support of the bill.

The Committee has put the bill in suspense. This happens to all bills that have costs over $150,000. Assemblyman Cogdill is fairly optimistic that the bill will be released from suspension in the next two weeks. The bill now has 58 legislators who have committed to co-authoring the bill if it comes out of suspense.

Assemblyman Cogdill came into the committee room with a stack of over 1000 support letters, some of which were actually petitions which contained many supporters. These support letters really help but we still need more letters flowing in.

Assemblyman Dave Cogdill would like to thank all who have been sending in letters of support for this important legislation.
