As an ulternative, try a 5" Big Hammer trout pattern swimbait (use a leadhead w/ eyes). I saw Tom Cod C&R a 10+ # bass and many other smaller bass using the same rig @ Puddingstone, Silverwood and Perris. They also work on the stripers @ Silverwood.
