I've decided to take advantange of Steven's Creek after work now from my boat after I discovered that I can fish this lake as long as the gas engine is not turned on. Since this lake typically kicks my rear from the shore, I thought I'd start disecting the structure a little bit at a time from my 18' Ranger and electronics. My first attempt in a long time on Wed evening ended up with a skunk for 1+ hrs of fishing a drop shot in 10-40 feet of water.

Since this lake is very clear and the fish seem to be deep most of the time I thought I'd try and get back to basics by tearing apart the structure like I would Berryessa or Oroville. On Wed I ended up going through about 10 different color variations drop shotting with fish that I could see in real time with my flasher without a hit. I started out with some 6" dropshot straight tail worms then decided to go through the same process with 4" worms in the same 10 colors.

Has anyone had any success with this lake? Suggestions? Anyone interested in fishing behind me after 5:30pm on weekdays since this is about 5 min from my house?

I know I feel a bit funny as I'm the only boat on the lake but I'm taking advantage of the daylight and opportunity to get on the water. Plus it's a good exercise since I've concentrated my fishing time on the delta for the past 9 months every weekend with 1 or 2 lake trips here and there. Also it's a way that my finesse gear doesn't feel so lonely. :)
