Anyone been to Piru, Pyramid, or Castaic lately?

I fished a night tourney at Piru Friday night and got nothing but small fish. But some guys caught some nice fish. I think 25Lbs won it.

I fished a club tourney at Pyramid on Sunday and the stripers were boiling all over the lake on the bait balls. Bass were a little tough but lots of small fish.

I decided to make the trip to Pyramid.

Anyone been up there lately? I figured I would throw some big trout imitations near the launch area/marina for a while, then try either Yellowbar, or the dam area.

Anybody have any suggestions?

I went to Castaic for the last hour before close and caught a really chunky striper after trolling for about 10 minutes. That was pretty much it. We didn't see as many boils as on Monday. See Ya

I got zip. I had a few chasers, but no takers. I saw one guy land something, but that's it. There were a few boils around the marina, and lots of trout near the launch.

Oh yeah...I did see a boat tied up the the launch dock fishing for trout. They were doing pretty good, and caught quite a few. I guess that's one way to get around the "No Fishing From Dock" rule--either that or the Sheriff didn't see them. It was quite amusing to see their attempts to get the boat out of the water!

Yup, you got it right. I tried ALL my trout imitations--AC plug, Basstrix, Osprey, Castaic soft bait, etc. It wasn't for lack of trying!!! LOL

The launch/marina area is where I started fishing in the morning, and it is also where I finished the day. In the morning, there were schools of shad breaking on the surface, and I fished the edges, and the centers of the schools. At the end of the day, there were LMB fry all over the area.

smaller LMB on the points and schools of shad EVERYWHERE. (skiers and PWC were everywhere too) saw a couple of stripers get caught early in the marina area

the water's down at least 10' and warm. it was a summer-type sunday: boats & PWCs everywhere after 8AM. When I counted EIGHT boats fishing in "lost mine" at 11AM, I figured it was time to go.
Caught a few LMB (very small) off points, didn't meter much, and the shad were everywhere I went. Tried the coves up toward the marina but the PWCs were using them for their slalom course.
