Fished Lake Oroville last weekend, Saturday and Sunday. That lake is WAY DOWN, about 200 ft.!!!! My friend and I caught about 30 spotted bass each day, up to 2.2lbs. Plenty of action for the dead of winter. Most fish were caught on 1oz. Zipper Worm in-line football head jigs, w/ Yamamoto single tail hula grubs. When the clouds moved in we caught some on Lucky Craft Stay-See rip baits. Most of the fish were caught in 5 - 10 feet of water.

The DFG planted a large amount of 8 inch Coho salmon. Those things are EVERYWERE!!!!!!!! They would bite the tails off of our grubs as we reeled them in. We also hooked 5 - 6 per day by accident.

Someone told us that he was catching bass underneath the floating campsites (stationary pontoon boats available to the public). We tried but could only catch the Crafty Coho Salmon. We did catch one small Coho Salmon that answered one of my questions. It had two vertical bite marks on each side of its body, a narrow escape from a large bass!!!!! After throwing swimbaits for a while, we went back to fishing the jigs.

I don't think there are many largemouth in that lake. The spots have taken over, Big Time. I don't know if it would be worth throwing a swimbait all day, targeting a big largemouth. I know they're in there, but the question is how many are in there? Another question, would a 5lb. or 6lb. Spot go after an 8 in. Coho Salmon or swimbait?
