Hey all,
I'm planning a trip to Casitas in a few months but wanted the advice from the board. Last year we went up in May and had missed the bass spawn. We tried everything we could think of (surface lures in the shallows, night crawlers and senkos at various depths, big lures small lures, the list goes on an on but in two days we only came up with one foul snagged Red Ear (which of course we released). Anyway, my question is when do you guys think the best time to plan this years trip will be? I know that weather conditions will always affect things but I'd appreciate any help you guys can give!

Thanks
RF

The best time to plan your trip is on a WEEKDAY. Casitas gets pounded non-stop especially in the spring. When you read the hit parade of 10+ fish every week, almost all of these fish are caught during the week. And they are usually caught by the same guys, week after week. The guys who throw the big baits and know the lake really well. Bed fish at Casitas get pounded, so unless you're lucky or you are good at spotting and fishing for deep fish, it's a crap shoot. If it was me, I'd go the first week in March! good luck. Casitas hates me, but it shows the love every once and a while.
