I'll hopefully be heading up to Pyramid tomorrow for stripers and LMB. I was wondering how do you guys who use the anchovies rig them. This will be my first time using chovies and I am pretty clueless about fishing them. Thanks in advance.

Pyramid is Great for Striper, I never caught a striper until I fished at Pyramid...me and my fishin buddy Kev rented a boat and we fished near the dam. The lady at the gate was nice enough to give us a free pack of anchovies...and we had all the lures etc and nothing was working until we used anchovies....all I did was tied the like directly to a size 6 mosquito hook or just about any hook will do...I have yet to try circle hooks...but all you do is just cut up the anchovies into little 1 inch chunks and hook it carefully so it wont tear off when you cast....and just cast it out about 50 feet and just do nothing but wait...watch for line movement...usually these fish cruise around so the eat and swim and eat and swim...but every time by buddy goes there now all he uses is anchovies and he catches tons of them....plus you can also use some weight and let it drift to the bottom and you might catch a catfish...

If you practice catch and release, 1/0 or 2/0 circle hooks are the ticket. You will get way less gut-hooked fish. Don't set the hook, just reel and don't give any slack.

I was there on 4/8 I fly lined my anchovies and used a split shot with 24 inch leader. I thought they were smaller than the last time I was there (early January). I also noticed that the Sheriff's Dept was enforcing the 'no mooring' law. Several times throughout the day verbal warnings were issued to boaters. I heard the fine is 150 dollars... x( x( x(

Well, I just got back from Pyramid and I caught nothing. I only saw one boat catching the stripers and they were anchored. All the other boats including us did the drift from the island to the damn with no luck. I did pick up some of the circle hooks that you guys suggested but didn't test them out on any fish. Maybe next time.
