The salmon season got off to a slow start this year with only a dozen or so fish reported for anglers fishing in
the SB/Ventura area. Look for the fishing to improve in the next month or so. Today I fished the afternoon
half day and we headed down to the four mile area, which had been producing excellent rockfishing lately.
We tried a number of stones in 135-145 feet of water with lots of numbers on the rockfish but not much
size. I caught 2 short ling cod, a whitefish, and some small reds. Water temperatures were around 55 degrees
and the weather was nice with an approaching front.
