Fishtrap or hammers are both good. There are three colors patterns that work. One color is brown bait pattern. The smelt pattern is the another pattern that works well. And the chovy and sardine patterns. I use a smelt pattern in the bay. In the kelp beds I use chovy and sardine patterns. If fishing on the beach area I use brown bait pattern. I use big hammer lead head with the eyes,Size is 3/4 to 1/2 oz.
