5743, Salmon Deep-Sea Trip, 4/21, Half Moon Bay

The trip was OK. About 15 anglers on the boat, and 18 keepers caught. There was VIRTUALLY NO WIND at all, and the swells were only about 6 to 8 feet all day.

We left from Pillar Point Harbor aboard "The Outlaw." After a quick 1 hour 15 minute trip out to the reef area, we dropped down the 3lb. lead and the bait. Although we only caught a little better than 1 keeper to a rod, we caught and realeased at least 60 (YES 60!) shakers. One of my friends caught a 32 lb. King, which the captain and deckhand said was the biggest one they have seen this season.

Most of the fish were taken on anchovies, but one guy caught his limit of 15 & 17 lb. salmon, plus caught at least 10 more shakers. All his were taken on a red crocodile and a red/green apex. A few were taken on a green rotary salmon killer, but really anything red is very hot right now. All fish were 30 to 90 feet down.

I have a picture of the big one, but I don't have a scanner. How can I get the Pic on the website?

Hope this info helps anyone.
