The trip was a total bust. I would suggest a 3/8-1/2 0z. sliding sinker with either a 5/0 circle or 4/0 "prefered" flyline hook. That's it....A total bust I was the only passanger to get up and help make bait! Pulled a hook out of one early in the morning...Got broke off on brand new maxima perfection 25lb. which won't happen again because I got one to the boat on 20 maxima no problem until the seal got it! So no more maxima perfection. I didn't see anyone on board but maybe 3 of us who had even a glimmer of what they where trying to do on the boat and while I'm no novice I do know a stick when I see them in action. Equipment can be a flash with no one home so watch what the other guys are doing ,be friendly to all and help out the poor suckers around you so they can stick a 25lb. yellowtail on the last stop. There was no iron bite,we got two legal butts one over 20 and at the end of the trip we got one 25lb. yellowtail purely by acident I assure you. I think I'd shop around long and hard before I go out of Long Beach "first time at this landing" again. If they had told me before we got to the last stop that it was for yellowtail only I'd have swapped out the 1/2 0z sinker for a splitshot or 1/8 slideing sinker. Hope all your fish are bigguns.
