807, Stardust 8/30

Fished the morning 1/2 day today - not to much action early on so we moved to off of summerland/carp. Saome barries, macks, and a bunch of nice calicos. Chas caught a 5 - 6 # calico that had a HUGE wsb follow it to the boat. A few minutes later I hooked up with a very large fish that broke off my line about 30 seconds later - total bummer. A while later Chas pulled in another nice calico, this time with some Black seabass AND whites following it. It was pretty incredible.
I gotta hand it to the crew of the stardust today - they did an incredible job. I think the coolest thing I saw all day was Chas releasing that huge calico. That gets serious respect from me.
After I got off the boat, I went freediving off of mesa lane and managed to spear a 32 inch halibut. There were actually quite a few out there -as well as some wsb. Most of the fish were hanging within about 30 yards of shore - right along a line where the water vis went from 0 to about 10 feet. So if anybody out there doesn't mind humping it up and down the stairs there i think it should be pretty good.
