10546, Albacore slow!!!

When out Sunday night on a 2-day out of H&M Landing on the Top Gun 80 and just got back home tonight. Apparently, the trips coming in from their 2-day trip limited out. So I thought I would be getting into a wide open bite. Well that was not the case. The Capt would find the fish but just couldn't get them to bite. Must be because of the full moon and the albies have been eating all night. No blues were caught but we did get into a good yellowtail bite. The tails ranged from 5 up to 25lbs. The 2 day total for albies was 146. The fish were pretty good size up to 30lbs. Final tally, Albies 146, YT 106, 1 Dorado & 2 Skippies. I ended up with only 4 albies, 3 YT. My buddy caught 9 albies, 2 YT. His cousin caught 4 albies & 5 YT. Just my luck when I finally get to go out the bite turns off!:-( Well maybe next time...

Still not too bad. Think about all those trips where the boat dosen't even stop. I always keep those in mind, when the fishing is a little tough. How was the Top Gun 80. Could you give us your thoughts on this boat, many of us have yet to go out on her or even see it.

You have a good point, now I feel better about the trip! :D As far as the Top Gun 80 goes, it's a nice boat very clean being that it's only 3yrs old. What's cool about it is that all the bunks are in state rooms, which have 3 bunks to a room. The staterooms also have a sink in them too. Kinda cramp in the staterooms though. The boat doesn't have much to sit on outside or anything. Galley is clean which can accomodate 18 people at a time. All drinks & meals are inclusive on the trip except the beer of course. :-( As far as the crew goes they're very good people. The Capt is Bob Taft, his brother is Chuck Taft who owns the Sea Adventurer. Bob tried his best to put us on fish, I'll say that much. After each jig stop if no one got bit in 15-20 mins, he'd be on the move again. He found a couple of kelp paddy's that were productive, 10-25lb yellowtail. All in all a good experience, i'd go on it again!
