It is best to take a party boat or private boat for stripers, halibut, sturgeon in season, even salmon when they enter the bay in late summer or early fall. Stripers and perch (and rays) can be caught from shore on the west side of the bay (Oyster Point in SSF, Burlingame, San Mateo). I am not familiar with the east bay, but there is Berkeley Pier for one place (perch, halibut). Stripers can be caught from shore in the north bay (Tiburon area for one). Shore near both ends of the GG Bridge can also produce stripers. I would not eat fish that reside in SF Bay. Species that are just passing through may be ok. Others should be able to provide more information. Good luck
