Me and my dad fished from about 8 till 11 from the yaks. We mean to get out earlier but, well, we slept in. We got there and the fishing was on right away. We had a steady pick of fish the whole time. Nothing huge but some solid sandies and calicos. The rockfish where everywhere also. It was WFO on johny bass. Final counts where ME: 4 calico 3 sandbass 6ish sugar bass 1 blue rockfish and a load of johny bass DAD: 6 calico 2 sandbass 3 sugar bass 1 blue rockfish and a mess of johny bass. Not a bad day at all. The hot baits where the 4inch purple brown bait, 5inch lary heron special, and the 3 inch bay smelt. The highlight of the trip was when a bait ball erupted around me and one landed in my lap. It was a perfect sardene and i didnt have a bait hook DAMN! I tossed it back and watched a decient calico munch him DAMN!! DAMN!! Pretty good out there i might try again wednesday morning.

Nice report Dan. How far out from the end of the pier (how deep) was the action?

Thanks.

the fish are usually along the whole length starting a hundred yards or so from the end of the pier and going all the way to the end of the kelp (a mile and a half or so). Usually i start working my way out until i hit a good area, usually no more than 30 or 40 ft.
Im going to go tomarow morning because i have afternoon classes. Ill be there at 730 if anyone wants to join me
