13524, Morro Bay Halibut Posted by Phil, Mon Jul-25-05 07:37 PM
I've been giving bass fishing a little break and spending a ton of time inside the bay going for halibut lately. It hasn't exactly been wide open, but if you spend enough time, the fish are there. Last week I fished for seven hours and had one bite that turned out to be just legal. This weekend I fished both days and landed one halibut again. I got lucky and dropped my bait right on a big one's head. This sow went 41 inches. Thought you guys might like to see some pics. One of these pictures is in my gallery, but in case you don't check, here it is.

Are you fishin the Bay in your Kick boat? If you are I was pondering the idea....I have fished Port San Luis, but have yet to try Morro Bay.

I've been in my jon boat. I've also done ok in past years in my kayak. The kickboat would scare the heck out of me. Not like anything could happen. I'm just a wimp that way :)

I know the feeling...I was out at Port san luis with that same feeling once, and a seal bigger than me started getting way to close....that wasn't so bad...it was when there was 6 more the same size wanting to play with my kickboat that scared me...lol
