Dangit, now I'm all fired up about the wsb... Alright, here's what I've heard: Last weekend there was an UN-CONFIRMED report of a wide open bite for private boaters at Catalina and San Clemente. I am VERY skeptical of this report, as I was AT Clemente, and I don't think there was a single legal scratched for any of the sportfishing fleet in the two days we were at the island, and the report was that it was even worse at Catalina, so unless the pb'ers got into something and didn't tell about it, we'll disregard that report. What I do know for sure, is that there are fish at Catalina, San Clemente and Santa Barbara Islands right now. 5 overnight boats had limits today. Equal success was reported by private boaters. Still no yellowtail to speak of. Calico bass action is picking up at the islands mentioned as well.
Now; weather... All we need is two straight weeks like the one we've been having (and every other freakin week for the last month, between storms) and it will be ON. We've had good weather, without rain, for about a week and a half now, and the wsb are showing up down south. This weekend, a system is predicted. At first they predicted it as being pretty bad, but now they're saying it'll just be cloudy with maybe some drizzle, so it may not effect things too much. After that, hopefully it'll be the end of it and we can get on with spring already (that's what I've been saying for about the last 5 storms). So, just as soon as we get some sunny weather like we've had, for a good amount of time, the fish will go on the bite. The fish are there, the water's just too cold still. This year's got a lot of potential though. Although it got off to a late start, all those seabass down south are a VERY good sign. Hopefully we'll see some fish inshore next week or the week after, and pretty soon we'll start seein em at the channel islands, and as spring progresses, it'll be pretty good I think. Like Marco said, this wind and rain DID stir things up, that's for sure, so we'll see what effect that'll have. I know the bait's really scattered right now (making it tough to salmon fish), but hopefully with this calm weather, they'll bunch up a little bit, the water will warm up, the squid will come in, and the seabass will be right behind em. We're overdue for the fish to be on the bite. They're ready and waiting. As soon as we get some good weather, I think it'll bust open real quick. We'll see what happens, it's gettin exciting...

Damn. I blew all my money (and some I didn't have) last weekend. The fish need to wait at least a month so I can catch up. It does look like things will go any second, we sure could use it.
