Got kinda a late start out of Sandawg, so didn't get much fishing in. It was a little slow while we were there, but the skiff guys were getting a few on bait, with the odd bone & mackeral coming onto the rocks. The fish are still there.

Saw one guy on the rocks who had his 5 little guys on... Megabait! He was tossing one of the smaller Megabait irons (looked around 2oz or so) in silver sardine. Seems like anything that swims will eat those things! :D I can assure you that barries LOVE 'em.

edit: The Megabait guy was letting the iron sink before retrieve

Thanks for the report, it is a shame that those rental skiffs cant venture out of the harbor. I went out today and on the way back right outside the harbor the bones went crazy. I was throwing a megabait minnow crank and reeling it back through the bait balls as fast as I could and they would slam it everytime. I only landed 5 because it took so long to land them even on 14# and they dissapeared after 10 minutes. Nice 3-4# fish, I kept one that took the lure deep. Other than that there was some OK halibut action at Hermosa beach, they just weren't in the mood to hit the plastic. I caught three small 12-15" shorts on the squid and 10 sandies to 3# all on the white scampi. Two other kayak fishermen caught an 8# and 12# fish from the same area.
