5933, Oceanside Surf Report

Took my new Shimano Sahara 4000 that I loaded with 6lb Maxima to the beach south of the Oceanside Pier last night hoping for a little Corbina action with some skunky left over mussel that I had.

As it turned out, I fished for two hours and caught seven medium sized Bardies. No self respecting Corbina would come near that crap. x) The skies were overcast with the wind blowing out of the west at about 10-15 knots. Water temp is still a chilly 59. Still no sign of any sand crabs.

On a bright note, I love my new spinner. I'm going to give the swimbaits a shot today.

I didn't get a chance to fish this weekend...got some dink perch on friday though...looks like I didn't miss much based on your report. Where are the corbina? Haven't seen many at all yet! Oh well, at least you didn't get skunked!

Had a nice surprise today. Casted swimbaits at Oceanside Harbor. My brother lost a legal White Seabass when his Palomar Knot gave way on a 3" bleeding olive herring hammer that was laced with Calico Cocktail. I farmed a legal flattie on a 3" motoroil grub but caught an 18" White Seabass on a black and purple artifishable swimbait released of coarse.

Water temp was 58 (chilly) overcast skies and fished an outgoing tide.

I'm stoked that the Seabass are here and with the Yellowfin Croaker arriving soon along with the Flatties and Spotted Bays and Calicos, it should be a fun summer!

Tight lines and Tan your hide in Oceanside!

There were sand crabs at Cardiff last Friday morning. Didn't see corbina working the surf, but caught a 19" corbina using a 3" Big Hammer on a 3/16 oz darter head.

I'll tell ya,

I can hardly wait until I make contact with a Big Corby on an artificial plastic.

I really love this site! I'm sure learning alot! :)
