9382, Goleta Pipe Posted by Dan, Sun Mar-30-03 03:46 PM
took the kayak out today around 9 am and fished my trusty goleta beach pipe. i started off shallow in about 20 ft. i had 6 solid sandbass in the first 7 casts. the biggest was about 19 inches and nothing under 16. then the bite shut off for a bit. i was stoked already so i decided to see if i could find any big fish deep so i moved out to about 60 ft of water but couldnt find any fish. i started working back in at just about the same time that the wind started to pick up. the bass bite turned on again and had some calicos in the mix this time. i fished till about 12 when the wind made the drift too fast. all the fish where cought on a half ounce yellow lead head and either 4' big hammer calico hunter or a 5' sandbass special. final count was 15+ sand bass and 3 calico bass. not a bad three hours if i do say so myself.

Good job Dan. A pipe is good structure as you'll find biting fish somewhere along it's length (usually, lol). Thanks for the report.
