Hey Ben if you don't have a meter with Water temp get yourself a pool thermometer and that will give you a close idea to what's going on. Most cases from what I've seen out here the bass will start around 58-62 degrees. Smallies are a little earlier, maybe 55 or so.

Hope for sunny days and look for spots with lots of rock or grass, those spots will hold the heat a little longer. Also look for the spots in muddy water where the sun shines on it most of the day.I fished a pond in central CA that was 50 when we started in the morning and warmed up to 55 in 3 hours,that's when the bite turned on.
