The Championship of the Calfishing Big Bass Days of March goes to Mike In SJ. Though there are some reports of bigger bass caught this last weekend, the pictures needed to be posted by March 31, so Mike holds on to win with his 13lb+ fish. Congratulations. Please e-mail me to tell me your preference in t-shirt size and line size for the Maxima bulk spool, and I'll need your shipping address to send out your winnings.

Just want to thank some of those who made this contest possible:

Rob Belloni- Calfishing
Jeff Taibi- Bass World West
Gerad Cawhorn- Maxima Line
Cher and Chris Vella- Uma-X (Osprey Lures)
Jeff Walker- Yamamoto Custom Baits
All of you guys who contributed and reported the many lunkers caught this month.

Mike, congratulations. It was fun to see you catch that 11+. I can imagine the excitement that the 13+ created. Per your suggestion, I tried tossing a BigMac on Saturday but it kept falling off the hook !!

Hey Mike (and Fish Chris) First off congrats to Mike on his hog and to everyone who got big fish this month. I barely broke the 5lb mark myself but still had a lot of fun tryin :-) I talked with CJ this morning about the contest and we basically agreed that Mike should win it because we wanted to stick to the original rules. We tried to keep it pretty informal but there did have to be a pretty clear set of rules so that we could decide the winner. Basically, you needed to post a pic or email a pic to me by March 31. You also had to be a registered calfishing user. I hope you guys can understand that aspect of it.

If you guys haven't seen Chris' hog, you should go to
http://www.trophybassonly.com and check it out. It's on the last photo page (page 21 I think). And we would still love to see some pics of Bucketmouth's 16 from Rancho Seco too!

I'm off to Clear lake this weekend. I doubt I'll get one over 10 but there should be some fun fishing to be had.

Mike, whatever you do don't throw that 12" slammer of yours there OK :o I am still waiting for the day when I hear about someone just whacking them at Oroville or Shasta on a trout plug. Could you imagine a 7lb spot bashing your plug?!!?! That would be awesome. I did once hear of some guys winning at Shasta with a 6lb largemouth they got on a basstrix, but that's about all the swimbait/plug action I've heard of there. Should be a lot of fun no matter what they're hitting. I'm not sure what to expect at Clear Lake. Really warm now but it looks like it could cool off a lot between now and Saturday.

congrats to you guys that nailed the big girls- I didn't do *&^%! Wasted two weekends on a halibut tourney, I did get a double digit bass, but it was the wrong kind, it was a croaker. Thanks for a great source of info on hunting the big girls- A couple of my friends have been nailing some fish on the deep cranks, hopefully April is my month. Any info on San Antonio? Fishing up there in two weeks.
