Hey Chris,

I've actually found longer rods work better from a tube (as I had one for many years). The majority of rods I carry are 7ft with my flipping sticks being 7'6". You'll find flipping to be a little easier and you'll be able to get a little further on your flips. I'm not sure if you're in a tube, u-boat, or pontoon but it will help you with a longer stick regardless. If you're in a pontoon it still helps but then you could get away with a shorter rod since it is much easier to also pitch from a pontoon boat. I know some guys (both in a tube, pontoon boat and bass boat!) use an 8ft stick but I find it unecessary.

For your second question I would just recommend what the Thorbolter said or a breathable wader that gives you a little more space. Strech out your legs too, it will make a difference!
