No leader. The egg sinker just rests on the leadhead. Didn't think about a rattle effect. Just did it last year during a good rockfish bite because I wanted to have a little more fun. Worked great then and yesterday. I'm not sure what it is about that olive/red stripe Big Hammer but it always seems to be the hot color.
