#6, "June 13, 1999 Stardust Half Day Boat:"

Went on the stardust today with Steven Viore. We started out at four mile with zero fish and headed up to
Goleta. We got into the johnny bass for about 5 minutes and I got three. I also got a couple little gopher
bass. Some guy caught a 29 inch halibut. He wasn't in the pot so some weak ass barely legal calico won jp,
but hey, it beat my fish so I guess I can't say anything. Steven and some other guys caught some ronkis at
the bait barge, the same guy caught a bat ray and two octopus. A new sportmart opened in Goleta, out by
Cosco so I checked that out last night. I wasn't too impressed with the fishing selection. It's mostly Penn
powersticks with a couple sabres and shimano rods. As far as the tackle goes, they have a couple irons and
some rapala magnums. They have these really weird jig heads for plastics. They look like little bass heads,
they're like molded and stuff and they look totally real so I got a pack of those to see how they work. Good
prices on tubes though, they had one for 50 bucks. It was like a browning or something.
