#8186, ""Sick Boy" out of San D 11/2"

Skipper A. Lewis pulled his 26ft. Seaswirl, "Sick Boy," from VTA to SD for an end-of-the-season tuna trip. Much thought, much debate (the Rod, Morro, etc), but chose the "Mushroom." I was lucky enough to hop along. Hit the water at 2 AM Friday night, pounded the seventy miles and dropped lines by seven. Slow to start, but fire by eight. Hit four or five jig triples in a row plus bait fish for the next two hours. Three dudes on the boat, six tired arms. Got 22 albies, 15 to 25 lbs, and two toad skippies (ripe for smoking) in about two hours. 'Nuffs enough, and we started our trip back. Waves, water, and some clouds. We saw some breaching whales, which was very cool, and a swordfish (we think). Hit the harbor on fumes, pulled out, and hit the freeway. Home in time for a shower, a beer, and bed. Props to the skipper Aaron Lewis-- balls like churchbells and class to boot-- who got us on the fish, fished like a champion, imparted plenty of wisdom, and got on the horn to turn all the other boats in the area onto the bite. Right on! #####, you know.

For anyone who's hitting the water for a last minute tuna trip , here's the report: got some pigs on the pull with black/purple Raps, a dorado Rap, and Zuch feathers. Those three went, like, 4-out-of-5 on the troll. Straight meat. The rest is pretty obvious. Again, thanks to the skipper and my good friend, R.B., it was a blast. Sorry, I wanted to attache pix, but they were over 140kb and wouldn't work. Oh well, just cooler pix and vanity pix, so if you want to see them, e-mail me and I'll send 'em out. 'Nuffs enough, you know. Good luck.

Sshh...I got one on...
