#3397, "Who Invented Chartreuse Shad?"

Sometimes I wonder, who invented the color "Chartreuse Shad". As far as I know, it was Lucky Craft that came out with it first. Since then, there's been the usual explosion of similar colors that happens whenever something good comes along in fishing. The thing with the "Sexy Shad" color Strike King baits is what brings this to mind.

I just wonder, who was it who first invented the color. Does anyone know?

I do remember that one now...

Looking at the shad rap page on the Rapala site, the Shad color (SD) doesn't look like what I remember. Maybe the picture is off or they changed it a little.

I looked at the LV500 page on TW this morning and started laughing when I saw this. They're calling it "Sexy Chartreuse Shad".

I have no clue. Looks nice though. I'm a big fan of chartreuse shad and its variants.

Pretty sure LC was the first Chart. Shad color on the mark, or at least the version with the color line down the side. They were also the first to really come up with a transulucent shad imitation on the US market. Now everybody makes a "Ghost Minnow". Thats just the market. I haven't used the Sexy Shad yet though. If you ask me, how much of a difference can it make? I know colors can make a difference but on certain baits, it just doesn't really seem to matter to me. There's three or four styles of baits I really use a chart shad color on; lipless, topwater, rip baits, and cranks. All of which I moving at a fairly decent clip the majority of the time, with the occasional time when I deadstick a rip bait or work a topwater real slow. But in those situations I'm usualy not throwing a chart shad color anyways. Just IMO. I don't think the fish really care about the difference between chart. shad and "sexy chart. shad" when I rip that LV500 through the grass or bump that cranks off the dock and they eat it. Just my 2 cents...

Bass + Fisherman= BAASS ADDICTT!!!

According to my contact who used to work for LC said that they developed that color and name. Now they could have stole the color scheme from Rapala and changed it slightly. Now everyone has a Chart. Shad color or something similar to it as well as Ghost Minnow...

Now we are seeing the same thing with Sexy Shad. Bandit, Norman (which looks the best so far) and LC all copied it. I think its cool that LC did it because they have been getting knocked off for a while. I have yet to catch fish on the Sexy Shad color. I'm sure it will happen eventually.
