#3815, "New Lifevest?"

I am ready for a new lifevest. I have always used the traditional vest that came with my Ranger. I am undecided if I should stick with the same? Go with an inflatable? If so, auto or manual? Any and all thoughts welcome. Thanks

Inflatable scares me. Risk of malfunction. I have a regular style mustang vest with the neck collar thing on it. I like the idea of having my head floating out of the water. In the water seems less optimal and it's odd to me how a lot of vests don't have much floatation around the neck.

I agree on the malfunction part, kinda makes me nervous. I have enough to think about on the water let alone an inflatable. I am sticking with the orginal vest. Mine also had the neck pad collar piece. I also like the feeling of security as well as the little extra warmth. I am old school and will remain that way.

This one looks pretty cool, new for 2012. Extra high neck support for rough water and even hand warmers as we wait for our boat # to be called. + Mustang supports TBF so i should get a good deal, score

Cool. Another thing I do on my lifejacket that I learned from Mark Rogers is attach a whistle. It would really suck to be bobbing around in the Delta in the fog (for example) and have people driving by who couldn't hear you. Little thing like that might save your butt in a bad situation.
