I was just wondering how the harbor was doing for those halibut or white seabass. I fished the kelp line at goleta and hooked up to about 60 bass, and about 7 lingcod. the next day we hooked 48 bass
all were on plastic 3.5 inchers. best colors to use are brown with orange belly(fishtrap) green flek, christmas tree. we went out there on our raft. see you out there some time.

I havent fished the harbor since last spring so I dont know. I was wondering where in goleta did you get that bass bite? I live in Isla Vista and had 9 sand bass the other day in front of my house at the outer kelp line. Any info would be appreciated.

The fish were hooked at the kelp line, at the end of the kelp line
and they were hooked on a fish trap a 3.5 inch. they were all around the red markers out there. i hoped that helped you.

7 0f the 9 were legal and my roomate had a handful as well. Today was GEORGEOUS but I was tired after a long study session so I didnt feel like paddling out.
I will be fishing Catalina next weekend for 3 days and will post a report. I have not been too active in a year or so because I worked on the first string all summer and have just recently got back into the zone; however, I am going to fish all the spots I plotted while working up north and hopefully the seabass will pay (at least a few halibut @ little harbor or any other beach between there and the west end)

Do the charter boats.....er, I guess there's only one left there now, the Stardust, right?....fish that area of kelp? When I used to live down there, there wasn't much kelp in that area. I guess its all grown back. This spot is off the end of the Goleta pier, or between the pier and the point?
