I was wondering how you guys clean your reel after a fishing trip on the ocean? For a long time I never rinsed off my fishing gear after a trip to the pier, shore, charter, etc... I learned very quickly that salt water corrodes your gear over time. So these days I just run my gear through water. But this year I got some pretty decent baitcaster reels for targeting the LMB at casitas. I want to take some of my reels out to target some halis. Ive been very reluctant to take my freshwater gear out to the ocean. Should I buy another reel for saltwater fishing, or can the reel be cleaned so that I wont have corrosion problems? I want to protect my investments.
What practice, if any, do you guys use to clean your gear after a day of fishing??

I clean my reels monthly. Rip them open, pick out any sand, lightly spary them down with freshwater and re-oil all the gears. But after each trip, just spray them well with a hose on full power. Thats done the job for me! -----------
