#1662, "TICA reels"

Saw a sale for TICA reels on the Net, but not very much information on the discription. Does anyone have any input on this brand of reel?

i hve talked with a guy who reps for them and he said that they are a very similar brand as okuma. He also said they make spinning reels and baitcasting reels in the 400 dollar range.but that doesn't mean much since i didnt get to see any.

You might checkout buyfishingstuff.com if your curious. The libra series sounds pretty good, but I guess I'll wait to see if anyone has any hands on experience. The prices aren't at or even close to $400 though. Maybe a saltwater series???

he was comparing the reel to the shimano stella, something like 10 or 11 bearings.

I picked up a libra 2500 and tried it out this last weekend. This model is about the size and capacity of a 1000 series shimano or 20 series okuma. Very smooth action and drag, all metal and wood handle. Good looking reel, but no spare spool. Seems to be a good buy at this point. I'll be using it for my surf fishing and will give further reports on how hardy it is.
