I was hoping that some one here could give me a suggestion on where I could get my casting reels serviced. I have an old Shimano B-Mag that I have had for fifteen years, it still works great but the drag is shot (I can screw it down all the way and still pull line with little effort)I have never had the reel apart or serviced in any way so a good overhaul is needed. I also have a Shimano Bantum from the mid 90s that needs service as well. This one is starting to make some funky noises when I cast. I live in Sacramento but I would be willing to send them out if there is someone out there that specializes in the older reels. I would attempt to do the service my-self but I am not the mecanicly inclined

I know that I should just break down and buy a few new reels, and I will if the cost to overhaul these is too high, but the ones I have are like part of me. The reels were the top of the line when I bought them. It just goes to show how well Shimanos are biult.

Your best bet is to send them to Shimano.

Call Shimano 1st. They may tell you were to take it or tell you to send it to them. I lost the #, web addy and e-mail but a search should find it. They respond to my e-mails within 2 working days or less. Gotta love Shimano!

for shimano reels you can send them to connie k. at Lake fork Tackle repair. They fixed up a couple of curados i got off ebay and made them like new. Great customer service and quick repair.

Take to the long beach Fred Hall show they have a repair and a clean up bench and a rep. will help you out.

Have you tried Andy's Reel repair in Rancho Cordova? Fisherman's Warehouse sends their reels to be repaired there.
