I headed up to Castaic after class today for some striper fishing since I've been hearing good things about the plant on Monday. I ended up catching my biggest striper yet. 14.4 pounds, I know it's not a whopper but it was a lot of fun. I also missed three fish in about 15 minutes. That was pretty dissapointing. I tossed the generic trout that I just got from the Ventura Fred Hall show. I love that bait now! All in all it was a pretty fun day out at Castaic.
Question about gutting these things, how exactly do you guys gut these things because the way I did it was tuff as hell. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Good job on your fish Bro.... I fished from my boat on tuesday and wednesday for a total of 11 fish, biggest being around 16lbs...
Did you catch your fish on the ramp, think i saw you, the afternoon bite was much better then the evening, i had at least 20 follows on the smirk bait, but couldn't get bit on it , got all my fish on a A/C minnow.
Best way to perpare the fish is to fillet it, the bellies are good smoked, i like mine beer battered and deep fried.....
