Headed out to Perris this morning since the conditions looked really good to get a big fish. Evan "dakine" and I fished the dam right away around 630am and didnt get bit, not even a follow. He was throwing a slammer and an osprey and i was throwing a 6 inch big hammer w/ a 1 ounce fish co head in the rainbow trout pattern. We moved to the marina for more of the same, nada then i walked down to powerplant point and got a nice 3plus pounder on the big hammer. I was pretty stoked on that, thats my first swimbait fish from perris.!!! pretty gnarly the thing ate the whole thing like 10 feet from shore, it was pretty cool to see that. We then walked down to Flagpole point for more of nothing. Bailed around 2, the wind started picking up hard around that time. There was a couple of guys out in their boats chucking the big baits, couldnt tell if they were hooking up or not.
good fishing to all.

Man Perris is just going to explode one of these days and the fishing will be wide open. I just hope i'm there. I probably won't hit the lake till mid january or february myself, maybe we'll see you down there again. I haven't gone back since that day we met up.

Tight Lines,
Jason Huckeba

Yeah, that pretty much sums up my 5 trips in the last month.Tuff times but thats paying the dues, tossin the slammer almost the whole time with a dash of the old castaic here and there.Alot of casting practice, mostly after work during the week from about five till closing. On the plant days and all,the one fish i did get was off the damn like half way down on the nine inch slammer.Under five pounds.
Last time got stopped by the park police for my tinted windows, man are those guys bored in the winter or what. They live for the summer crowd so they can act like real cops again.Im already on probation from those dudes getting busted for fishing the berisconi area after park hours. So im going to do more striper fishing this winter.Tight lines and good vibes!!!

whats up woodchucker, ya the fishing has been pretty tough at Perris but it has been improving little by little. Talk about paying your dues, i think we both have but talking to others at the launch dock and Marina and even at tackle shops, the fishing has been picking up especially at the east end of the lake. At least im getting a fish here and there now, not like the total skunk trips ive been getting used to. Where do you usually fish the dam woodchucker? All my quality fish seem to come around the bouy line, where do you have luck? JBYRD i do have a feeling that the fishing is gonna just blow up soon. Hope to see you out there when i does. Reading your posts though you seem to have your hands full with the trout fishing so there no lack of excitment on your end. Good fishing guys take care.

Ya,Perris can be a pesky little lake, big fish but alot of pressure.Wish i could get a guided trip by someone who throws the big baits and knows what there doing.WoodchuckerTours,Inc. has let me down the last few times ;-).

We'll see what happens this weekend with the linesides and then back to the hunt for the big green backs!!

Good luck down there fellas. MS has told me many times that the time around Christmas is usually a really good time for the big stripers. Hope you wack a big on on the 12" Slammer. Keep your spools full and check your knots }(
